Happy day

Today wins. I thought I'd write down a few of the reasons why...

Finally left the house for the first time in like a week-seriously-I was going stir crazy!
Leaving the house means I had to take a shower, get dressed, apply makeup and do hair, etc. It's nice to make yourself presentable for the world:) Kids also played well in their usual morning bath...I love that all three are close enough in age that I can still throw them all in there together and there's no weirdness about boys/girls, haha:)

Kids woke up early but played nicely for an hour or so while I peeled myself out of bed.

Bridger slept through the night, thus making it much easier than usual to get going. His croup is much better now, yaya!

Took the kids to the library and bribed them with a trip to McDonalds to play(we never go). Library trip went well-all three kids behaved themselves! I did have a teeny run in with security because I accidentally left my van door open while we went inside(oops. I wish I could say it was the first time, but...). Apparently it's a big deal and they made me stay and give all sorts of personal info just in case I wasn't really the owner or perhaps I was a unibomber or something. Turns out I'm just a mom with a really messy car and three wild children so they let me go eventually:) Honestly though I wasn't bothered by it. They were just doing their job and it taught my kids a lesson. Now they know not to leave their doors open because "mom will be in sooooo much trouble!" (Madeline's words)

Kids ate lunch really well and played even better. Some friends met us there too and it's always nice to talk to other adults:)

We also went to the store somewhere in between there and besides Hadley sneakily pushing the register buttons(how she reached them-I don't know) and jamming up the machine which was pretty embarrassing, it went well.

All three children took long naps and I did too. Lucky me! Here's Hadley in her usual weird position:)

Sparkletts guy came and brought us a new water machine thing. I forgot he was coming and left the house to do the above listed activities and he was kind enough to call and even wait for me to get home. So nice of him because the lack of ice cold water from our old one was causing major problems in the Buhl household. Devin is quite picky about his water, that's all I'll say:)

After naps the kids and I took a walk to the park and Devin happened to be on his way home so he met up with us. The kids were beyond excited to see him and made him follow him around the whole time we were there, haha.

Instagram is serving me well, as you can probably tell:) As is the blogging app on my phone. Loving it!

I hit 100 followers on my blog today. Or maybe yesterday, I'm not realy sure. Either way I'm seriously amazed that people read this and like it enough to follow it! I'm also just about to 100,000 views. Crazy you guys! Crazy!

Everyone ate my dinner tonight. Quite the accomplishment! Even the green smoothie was devoured. Devin is so anti spinach it's not even funny but I got him to drink some and I'm pretty sure he secretly loved it.

Bedtime sucked and I had to turn into the Wicked Witch of the West but we can't win them all so it's fine:)

I've been on a really strict schedule with my kids over the last week which is really hard for me-so not my personality. I'm the type that doesn't mind if nap time is skipped because something better came up, and betimes and baths are flexible. BUT I've decided that my lack of consistency is perhaps contributing to my children's craziness so I've started being really strict about when/how/what/why things happen. We've been doing the same things in the same order for 6 days now and it has made such a difference! Even Bridger, my easy one is better. Our night time routine is dinner, cleanup, ready for bed, story time, one tv show(a short one) and then off to bed. Bridger goes down before I let them watch TV and the last two nights, he's just gotten up and tried to climb into his crib. So lovely! I hate that we have to do the same things over and over but I think it's so much better for my kids to know what our plan is. Hopefully I'll stick with it:)

******

I know nothing life changing happened, but so what if it was totally mundane? It was ordinary in an extraordinary way...everyone worked and played well together, we got family time, The kids only embarrassed me twice, and I was reminded of why this mom business is worth it. I love my little family and am so grateful for the days that just run a little smoother than usual. Win for me, definitely.
